Hollis Whitson

Hollis graduated from Yale Law School in 1984 and has 38 years of experience. At the New Mexico State Public Defender, she served as a felony trial and appellate attorney, the chief appellate defender, and as founder and head of the statewide Mental Health Division. In 2000, she came to Colorado to work at the Denver office of the Federal Defender. In 2014, she was honored by the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar with its prestigious Jonathan Olom Award and in 2013, received the Outstanding Legal Service Award from Coloradans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. She has authored published law review articles and is a frequent CLE presenter on a variety of criminal law topics and prepares an extensive training outline each year for the Annual Criminal Law Roadshow hosted by the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and the Office of Alternate Defense Counsel.
